Mitt Romney will say anything to be President

I actually liked Mitt Romney as Governor of Massachusetts. My dad voted for him for Senate in 1994 against Ted Kennedy and again for Governor in 2002 and I would have voted for him in 2007 had he run for re-election because he was a moderate Republican who was good at balancing the budget and was realistic on issues such as abortion and healthcare reform.

However, Mitt Romney really wants to be President and has over-learned the lesson of "know your audience". He will never win the Presidency if he seems like a complete opportunist.  One of the things I always admired about George W. Bush is agree or disagree with him, you always knew where he stood.  With Romney, a virtual pro-choicer vs. Ted Kennedy in 1994 and a staunch pro-lifer as a Presidential candidate, you have no idea where he stands. He just stands wherever the rhetoric is most likely to make him president.

And again, as long as this recession continues, I don't see how a country with high unemployment elects a guy who was CEO for a business which helped companies be more profitable by laying off people. Trust me, if when Romney runs in 2012, he'll have the CEOs already.

This is backwards. Companies hired Mitt to help them become more profitable. That was his charter and he was successful at it. He is light-years more qualified to understand and drive the US economy than our current president. First and foremost, Mitt is a businessman and if there is one thing that he is best at and he is certainly more in-tune with $$$ issues than Comrade Obama.

  2. Here is the thing though, he's a businessman. He makes calculations for success. In politics those calculations dictate certain stances and he understands that.
I would rather have a President who understands the mechanics of a good economy right now, then one who revels stalwartly in his/her convictions.
Besides that I wouldn't say Gov. Romney would say anything to get elected. It's very likely in my mind that he's actually letting out his true colors now, as opposed to when he ran for Senate. That being said I'm a little wary of the No Apology Tour, I mean I understand the political maneuver..it's just hard to defend in a general election.

  3. If Mitt was so qualified due to financial issues, how come he couldn't get past John McCain - a person who's never RUN any business - I gasp at the thought! The former governor of Massachusetts has too much of a LEFT record (mandated universal healthcare / pro choice) to get past the Republican primary. The general election is not Mitt's issue, it's the primary and as long as he's a mormon from Mass, he can't get to the final round.
